Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's remark. Then, later in the calendar, her songs was circulating all over Dreamville. On December 8 it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance to J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then released two more singles called No One and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then released the song in a solo version to her debut album. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube in one week. In December of 2018, she was an opening act for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
